SAFELOOP 3rd General Assembly meeting in Nyborg, Denmark

SAFELOOP held its third General Assembly meeting in Nyborg, Denmark, on 3-4 June 2025.

Our hosts from Koppers Inc. welcomed the SAFELOOP consortium in Nyborg, Denmark to present the progress of the project and align for the next steps towards implementation.

Progress reports from all project work packages were the focus of the first day, generating excellent discussions and valuable knowledge exchange. Later that night, a networking dinner brought the consortium together, successfully enhancing collaboration and showcasing the strong team cohesion behind the SAFELOOP project.

The second day began with a site visit to the distillation plant which is part of the Carbon Materials and Chemicals division of Koppers. This state-of-the-art, high-efficiency and low-energy plant with an annual distilling capacity of 400,000 tons of crude tar is equipped with all modern facilities enabling production of high-quality pitch, naphthalene and various tar oils to customers' own specifications. The plant includes extensive tank storage capacity, its own harbor facilities and railway track ensure high logistic flexibility.
