The SAFELOOP project continued its strong presence at international events, related to the Battery Innovation field, by attending the EcoMAT 2025 conference, held in Istanbul, Turkey, from July 28th to August 1st.
This year, the conference theme, "Materials & Technologies for a Sustainable Future" was perfectly aligned with the core innovation pillar of the SAFELOOP project: establishing a safe, circular and sustainable supply chain for lithium-ion batteries.
Dr. Vildan Bayram Karakuslu from TÜBİTAK, a key SAFELOOP partner, presented the results of their pioneering testwork:
"Integration of Healed Graphite into Lithium-Ion Pouch Cells"

This research centers on "Healed" graphite, a high-value product derived from the Direct Recycling of spent lithium-ion batteries. This innovative recycling technology is currently being implemented by the American Energy Technologies Company in their new production facility in Wheeling, Illinois, USA.
The presentation underscored SAFELOOP's commitment to delivering advanced, sustainable materials that drive the future of European battery technology.
